Origin: A borrowing from French. Etymon: French pascage.
Etymology: < French pascage (1611 in Cotgrave in this sense; earlier in Middle French as pasquage in sense ‘meal’ (c1365), ‘pasture grounds’ (1508); now pacage ) < post-classical Latin pascuagium pasturage, right of pasturage, pasturage due (12th cent.; from 13th cent. in British sources; earlier pascuaticus , 9th cent.) < classical Latin pāscuum pasture, grazing (see pascuous adj.) + post-classical Latin -agium -age suffix. Compare Old Occitan pascatgue pasture grounds (1202).
Obsolete. rare. Apparently only attested in dictionaries or glossaries.
