单词 pari passu
释义

pari passuadv.adj.

Brit. /ˌparɪ ˈpɑːsuː/, /ˌpɑːrɪ ˈpɑːsuː/, /ˌparɪ pəˈsuː/, U.S. /ˌpɑri ˈpɑˌsu/
Origin: A borrowing from Latin. Etymon: Latin pari passu.
Etymology: < post-classical Latin pari passu simultaneously (12th cent.; 1417 in a British source), literally ‘with equal step’ < classical Latin parī , ablative of pār equal (see par n.1) + passū , ablative of passus (see pace n.1). Compare classical Latin passibus aequīs with equal steps (Virgil).
Side by side; simultaneously and equally; at an equal rate of progress. Also (esp. in Law and Finance): on an equal footing, without preference. Also occasionally as adj.: equal, non-preferential.
