Origin: A borrowing from French. Etymons: French perfourniss-, perfournir.
Etymology: < Anglo-Norman perfourniss-, Anglo-Norman and Middle French parforniss-, parfourniss-, parfurniss-, extended stem of parfornir, parfournir, parfurnir, perfournir, etc. perform v.: see -ish suffix2. The β. forms show the influence of perform v. (compare α forms at that entry). Compare post-classical Latin perfurnire to furnish or perform in full (1166 in a British source; < French). Compare earlier perform v. and later furnish v.
Obsolete (Scottish in later use).
