Etymology: < classical Latin patrātiōn-, patrātiō action of completing or effecting something < patrāt- , past participial stem of patrāre to accomplish, effect (of uncertain origin; perhaps < patr- , pater father: see pater n.2) + -iō -ion suffix1. Compare Middle French patration action of completing or effecting something (1530 in this sense; 1332 in Old French in an isolated attestation in sense ‘convention, act’.)
Obsolete. rare. Apparently only attested in dictionaries or glossaries.
