A. Tilden Introd. Study Chem. Philos. iii. 20 The ultimate pectisation of liquid silicic acid and other colloids is preceded by a gradual thickening of the liquid. 1938 W. L. Kubiëna Micropedology iii. iv. 137 Relationships of variation (B) also were found in some lateritic soils where the effect of pectization could not be seen by microscopic investigation. 1943 L. W. Sharp Fund. of Cytol. iv. 46 A sol may become a gel (gelation, pectization), and the gel may again become a sol (solation, peptization).
