释义 | † pedimanen. Zoology. Obsolete. rare. A mammal whose feet (esp. hind feet) resemble hands in having an opposable digit; spec. (a) a member of a former division of marsupials including the opossums and similar agile quadrupedal forms; (b) a lemur.The pédimanes of Vicq-d'Azyr (1792) comprised both marsupials and non-human primates, but later authors who used this or similar terms did so in a more restricted way; Cuvier applied it to opossums and certain other marsupials in his Tableau Élémentaire de l'hist. nat. des animaux (1798).
