Etymology: Origin uncertain; perhaps from the name of the Pegamoid Co., although it is unclear whether the company may not have been named after the material; for the further etymology perhaps compare Spanish pegamento glue, adhesive, or ancient Greek πηγνύναι to fix, fasten.
