Etymology: < perfluent adj. (see -ency suffix), after Welsh toddaid, the name of the metre (14th cent.), perhaps < tawdd molten, liquid (13th cent.; < the same Indo-European base as thaw v.) + -aid , suffix forming nouns. Compare (with different, although homonymous, suffix) Welsh toddaid molten (1778). Compare perfluid adj.
Prosody. Obsolete. rare.
In the terminology of J. Williams: one of the 24 strict metres of traditional Welsh poetry.

1856 J. Williams tr. Anc. Gram. Edeyrn §1761 The perfluency [Welsh toddaid] consists of nineteen syllables, having two homœorythms in the stave, with a perfluid word, like the recurrent word of a direct homœorythm systich, ending on the tenth syllable; the last verse of the perfluid stanza is always nine syllables long; as, A vynno evo a vydd yn i bro, Ar hynn a vynno na bo, ni bydd.
