Etymology: In α form < per prep. + procuration n. In β form < classical Latin per per prep. + prōcūrātiōnem, accusative of prōcūrātiō (see procuration n.). The phrase has not been found in Latin.
Law.
With reference to the authorized signing of documents by one person on behalf of another: by the agency of an official agent or attorney, by proxy; by the agency of; also in extended use. Also as adj. Cf. per pro. prep., procuration n. 2a.
