Any of a number of strongly oxidizing derivatives of boric acid containing a peroxo anion, which are usually prepared by the action of hydrogen peroxide on borates; esp. the hydrated sodium salt, a white, crystalline solid widely used as a bleach and as a constituent of washing powders.
