Origin: A borrowing from Greek, combined with an English element. Etymons: peri- prefix, Greek γωνία.
Etymology: Irregularly < peri- prefix + ancient Greek γωνία angle (see -gon comb. form).
Geometry. Now disused.
The angle swept out by a line in turning once completely around one end as centre; an angle of 360 degrees, or four right angles.
