Origin: A borrowing from Greek. Etymon: Greek ϕιλογυνία.
Etymology: < Hellenistic Greek ϕιλογυνία love of women < ancient Greek ϕιλογύνης fond of women ( < ϕιλο- philo- comb. form + γυνή woman: see gynaeco- comb. form) + -ία -y suffix3.
Now rare.
Love of or admiration for women.
