Etymology: < Middle French pernicion (1518) and its etymon post-classical Latin pernicion-, pernicio (probably to be attributed to medieval scribes), alteration (after classical Latin interneciō internecion n.) of classical Latin perniciēs destruction (see pernicious adj.1). N.E.D. (1905) gives the pronunciation as (pəɹni·ʃən) /pəˈnɪʃən/.
Obsolete.
