Origin: From a proper name, combined with an English element; modelled on a German lexical item. Etymons: proper name Perugino , -esque suffix.
Etymology: < the name of Pietro Vannucci (c1450–1523), Italian painter, known as Perugino after the town of Perugia, near which he was born (compare Perugian adj. and n.) + -esque suffix, after German peruginesk (1837 in the passage translated in quot. 1842).
Painting.
Resembling the mannerist style of the Italian painter Perugino.
