Etymology: < phaco- comb. form + -lite comb. form1, in sense 1 after German Phakolith (attributed to A. Breithaupt in Neues Jahrb. f. Mineralogie (1836) 653). With sense 2 compare slightly later phacolith n.
1. Mineralogy. A colourless variety of the mineral chabazite occurring in crystals of lenticular form.
