单词 accessible
释义

accessibleadj.

Brit. /əkˈsɛsᵻbl/, /akˈsɛsᵻbl/, U.S. /əkˈsɛsəb(ə)l/, /ækˈsɛsəb(ə)l/
Forms: late Middle English accessyble, 1500s– accessible.
Origin: Of multiple origins. Partly a borrowing from French. Partly a borrowing from Latin. Etymons: French accessible; Latin accessibilis.
Etymology: < Middle French accessible (French accessible ) that can be reached or entered (14th cent.), available, obtainable (15th cent.) and its etymon post-classical Latin accessibilis approachable, easily approached (early 3rd cent. in Tertullian) < classical Latin accēss- , past participial stem of accēdere accede v. + -ibilis -ible suffix. In the case of quot. a1425 at sense 1a, the text of the Vulgate in the same manuscript (Cambridge, Corpus Christi College, MS Parker 32) has post-classical Latin accessibilem (probably by confusion with accessistis ‘you have not approached’), hence giving rise to the reading in the English version, but the correct reading is accensibilem ‘burning’ (compare Hellenistic Greek κεκαυμένῳ ‘burning’ in the corresponding Greek text).
