Origin: A borrowing from Latin. Etymon: Latin Phyllosoma.
Etymology: < scientific Latin Phyllosoma, originally proposed as a genus name (W. E. Leach 1816, in Jrnl. de physique 86 306) < phyllo- phyllo- comb. form + -soma (see -some comb. form).
Zoology.
The larval form of certain macrurous crustaceans (formerly supposed to be adult forms constituting a separate group); a glass-crab.
