Origin: A borrowing from Spanish. Etymon: Spanish pinta.
Etymology: < Spanish pinta (usually pintas , plural) a dangerous disease associated with a rash, probably typhus (1588 or earlier in this sense; compare also mal del pinto mal del pinto n.), specific use of pinta spot (1250 or earlier), use as noun of feminine of pinto , adjective (see pinto n. and adj.).Spanish pinta in the specific sense below is apparently a recent borrowing < English.
Medicine.
A skin disease prevalent in tropical America, caused by the spirochaete Treponema carateum and characterized by the formation of pigmented papules and plaques which later become atrophic and white.

Etymology: Representing a pronunciation of pint o' < pint n. + of prep. Originally short for pint n. + of prep. + milk n.1, arising from a spelling used by the National Dairy Council from 1958 in an advertising slogan, which was coined by Bertrand Whitehead. Compare earlier cuppa n.
