Etymology: < French piperade (1926 in this sense) < French regional (Béarn) piperade (1887 in sense ‘pepper salad’) < piper pepper ( < classical Latin piper pepper n.) + -ade -ade suffix.
A dish originating in the Basque region of France, consisting of eggs scrambled with tomatoes and sweet peppers.
