Origin: A borrowing from Latin. Etymon: Latin plicātilis.
Etymology: < classical Latin plicātilis capable of being folded (Pliny) < plicāt- , past participial stem of plicāre to fold (see plicate v.) + -ilis -ile suffix. N.E.D. (1907) gives the pronunciation as (pli·kătil, -əil) /ˈplɪkətɪl/ /-aɪl/.
Obsolete. rare.
