Origin: A borrowing from Greek, combined with English elements; perhaps modelled on a French lexical item. Etymons: platy- comb. form, Greek κνήμη , -y suffix3.
Etymology: < platy- comb. form + ancient Greek κνήμη tibia (see cnemial adj.) + -y suffix3, perhaps after French platycnémie (see platycnemia n.). Compare slightly earlier platycnemism n., platycnemic adj., platycnemia n.
