Origin: Formed within English, by derivation. Etymons: plash n.1, -et suffix1.
Etymology: < plash n.1 + -et suffix1. Compare Middle French plassiet , plaschiet small pond (14th cent.; < plache , plascq (see plash n.1) + -et -et suffix1). Compare post-classical Latin plassetum, plassheta (c1290, 1323 respectively in British sources).
Now rare; in later use chiefly English regional (south-western).
A little plash or marshy pool.
