Etymology: < post-classical Latin plasmation-, plasmatio creation, forming, fashioning (4th cent.), creature (5th cent.), form of a bodily organ (1363 in Chauliac) < plasmat- , past participial stem of plasmare (see plasmating n.) + -io -ion suffix1. Compare Middle French, French †plasmation creation, forming, fashioning (late 12th cent. in Old French in an isolated attestation; subsequently from mid 15th cent.; also in second half of the 15th cent. as plasmacion).
