Etymology: Alteration of poinder n., with ending remodelled after words in -lar , -ler (compare tinkler n.1, pedlar n.1). Compare earlier poundler n. Sc. National Dict. s.v. Poind v. records the word as still in use in Moray in 1921 and 1958.
Scottish. Now historical.
