Origin: Formed within English, by derivation. Etymons: plunder v.2, -age suffix.
Etymology: < plunder v.2 + -age suffix. Compare Dutch †plunderagie, †plonderagie sailors' kit, tackle (1642), plundered goods (1646 as plunderaedje), also †scheeps-plunderaadje goods plundered from an enemy ship (1664).
Now chiefly historical.
(a) The action of plundering; pillage, spoliation. (b) Maritime Law. The pilfering of goods from a ship's cargo; (concrete) goods obtained by such means. Now historical.
