Origin: Formed within English, by compounding. Etymons: pneumato- comb. form, -graphy comb. form.
Etymology: < pneumato- comb. form + -graphy comb. form. Compare Byzantine Greek πνευματογράϕος inspired writer. Compare slightly later pneumatology n.In sense 2 after French pneumatographie (1861 in the source translated in quot. 1876 at sense 2). Compare also French pneumatophonie (see pneumatophony n. at pneumato- comb. form ).
1. A description of supposed spiritual beings, or of beliefs about them; the descriptive element of pneumatology (pneumatology n. 1a). Obsolete.
