Etymology: < ancient Greek πραγματ-, πρᾶγμα deed, act (see pragmatic adj. and n.) + -ize suffix. Compare French †pragmatiser (1585 in Middle French).
1. transitive. To represent or interpret in practical, realistic, or pragmatic terms; (originally) spec. to rationalize (a myth) (now rare). Also occasionally: to realize (something) in pragmatic or concrete terms.
