A mineral of the mica group that contains lithium (in a higher proportion than lepidolite, of which it was originally considered a variety) and potassium, and occurs as white, cream, or pink tabular crystals.

1884 Amer. Naturalist 18 1142 The name polylithionite refers to its large per centage [sic] of lithia. The mineral, however, is not sufficiently distinct from lepidolite to warrant giving it a specific name, and should be regarded merely as a variety of that mica.
1927 Amer. Mineralogist 12 275 Polylithionite is of doubtful stability, but mica of approximately this composition has been described from Greenland.
