单词 polynosic
释义

polynosicadj.n.

Brit. /ˌpɒlɪˈnəʊzɪk/, /ˌpɒlɪˈnəʊsɪk/, U.S. /ˌpɑliˈnoʊsɪk/, /ˌpɑləˈnoʊsɪk/, /ˌpɑliˈnoʊzɪk/, /ˌpɑləˈnoʊzɪk/
Forms: 1900s– polynosic, 1900s– polynossic (rare). Also with capital initial.
Origin: A borrowing from French. Etymon: French polynosique.
Etymology: < French polynosique (in a German context: N. Drisch 1959, in Reyon, Zellwolle u. andere Chemiefasern 9 436) < polynos- (apparently < poly- , -n- , and -ose in polymère d'un glucose ; < polymère polymer n. + de de prep. + un , indefinite article + glucose glucose n.) + -ique -ic suffix. Compare German polynosiquisch, adjective, and Polynosic-Fasern polynosic fibres (1959, both in Drisch). The fibre was first developed by the Tachikawa Institute in Japan under the name of Toramomen. The European name was given by N. Drisch in Switzerland. A number of alternative suggestions for the origin of the second element (e.g. shortening of cellulosic adj.) are secondary interpretations.
