Chemistry.
Any of a large class of polymers having the units linked by the group —NH·CO·O—, which are made esp. by the reaction of polyisocyanates with polyhydroxy compounds and are important commercially as foams and fibres and as constituents of paints, adhesives, synthetic rubbers, etc.; a plastic, varnish, etc., consisting of or made from such a polymer. Frequently attributive, esp. in polyurethane foam, and in instrumental and parasynthetic compounds.
