Etymology: < French portoir vine shoot (1562 in Middle French; now obsolete in this sense; earlier in sense ‘means of transport’ (c1200 in Old French)) < porter port v.2 + oir (see -ory suffix1).
Obsolete. rare.
A vine branch which bears grapes.
