Origin: A borrowing from Latin. Etymon: Latin ponibilitas.
Etymology: < post-classical Latin ponibilitas (1684 in the passage translated in quot. 1734), either < classical Latin pōnere to place (see ponent n. and adj.1) + -bilitās -bility suffix, or < post-classical Latin ponibilis supposable (from c1277 in British sources; < classical Latin pōnere to place + -bilis -ble suffix) + classical Latin -tās (see -ty suffix1; compare -ity suffix).
Obsolete. rare.
The ability to be placed or accommodated in space.
