Etymology: Alteration of pounder n.3, with ending remodelled after words in -lar , -ler (compare tinkler n.1, pedlar n.1). Compare later poindlar n. Sc. National Dict. s.v. Pund v. records the word as still in use in Moray and Banffshire in 1967.
Scottish. Now chiefly historical.
