单词 post scriptum
释义

post scriptumn.adv.

Brit. /ˌpəʊs(t) ˈskrɪptəm/, U.S. /ˌpoʊs(t) ˈskrɪptəm/
Inflections: Plural post scripta.
Forms: 1500s post scryptwme (Scottish), 1500s 1800s– post scriptum.
Origin: Apparently a borrowing from Latin. Etymons: Latin post, scrīptum.
Etymology: Apparently < classical Latin post after (see post- prefix) + scrīptum script n.1 and adj., perhaps after Middle French postscript (see postscript n.1). Compare classical Latin postscrībere postscribe v., of which the expected neuter past participle form would be *postscrīptum , although the past participle of this verb is not in fact attested. Compare French post-scriptum (1701 as postscriptum ), Italian post scriptum (1819); also German Postskriptum (1581 or earlier as Post scriptum ), Swedish postskriptum (1626 as postscriptum ). Compare later postscript n.1
= postscript n.1 1. Also as adv.
