Origin: Probably formed within English, by derivation; partly modelled on a French lexical item, and partly modelled on a Latin lexical item. Etymons: acrimony n., -ous suffix.
Etymology: Probably < acrimony n. + -ous suffix, partly after French acrimonieux (1605, earliest with reference to bodily humours) and post-classical Latin acrimoniosus harsh (13th cent.; also in undated glossaries).
