Etymology: < classical Latin postīcus situated at the back, rear < post after (see post- prefix) + -īcus (in antīcus antique adj. and n.).It is uncertain whether there is any connection with the following earlier use, apparently as noun in the sense ‘postscript’:a1529 J.
