A style (esp. of architecture) considered characteristic or reminiscent of the North American prairies.Associated esp. with the architect Frank Lloyd Wright (1869–1959), who designed a number of houses and other buildings with a distinctive emphasis on horizontal lines, and low-pitched roofs with wide overhanging eaves.
