Etymology: < post-classical Latin postnatus younger son (c1436 or earlier in British sources), person born after the uniting of the Scottish and English crowns (17th cent. in British sources), use as noun of postnatus postnate adj.
1. Chiefly in plural. A person born after a particular event; spec. in Scotland, one born after the uniting of the Scottish and English crowns (1603). Now historical.
