postremen.adv.adj.

Brit. /ˈpɒstriːm/, U.S. /ˈpɑˌstrim/
Origin: A borrowing from Latin. Etymons: Latin postrēmus, postrēmum.
Etymology: As noun < classical Latin postrēmus person who is last, postrēmum thing which is last, uses as noun of masculine and neuter respectively of postrēmus , adjective; as adjective < classical Latin postrēmus last (in space or time), superlative of posterus later, next (see postero- comb. form), formed on the model of suprēmus supreme adj. and n., superlative of superus. With use as adverb compare classical Latin postrēmō, postrēmum, adverbs, originally ablative and accusative respectively of the neuter of postrēmus. Compare Middle French postreme hindmost, last (1536; 1486 as noun in action de postremes invalidation of a father's will by posthumous birth of a child), Spanish postremo (c1200), Italian postremo (a1321), both adjectives in sense ‘hindmost, last’.
