单词 | postsynapsis |
释义 | postsynapsisn. Biology. Originally: a stage of meiosis after synapsis; spec. †(a) the stage in late anaphase during which paired chromosomes or chromatids become completely separated (obsolete); (b) the diplotene stage of meiosis, during which paired DNA strands begin to separate and chiasmata become visible (now rare or disused). In later use: (Molecular Biology) the final stage of genetic recombination, involving the processes by which the continuity of nucleic acid molecules which have undergone recombination is restored. H. Montgomery in Zool. Jahrbücher: Anat. 11 28 The postsynapsis, a term introduced here for the first time, is a well marked stage of the anaphase, distinguishable alike from the preceding synapsis as from the following telophase. 1909 Bot. U.S.A. 98 8448/1 Previous work with yeast recombination proteins has established that Rad54 protein functions in the synaptic phase of Rad51 protein-mediated in vitro recombination, but did not address directly a possible role during postsynapsis.
