Any of several tropical American trees of the genus Tabebuia (family Bignoniaceae) with showy, trumpet-shaped flowers in terminal clusters (also poui tree). Also: the wood of any of these trees. Cf. pony n.2pink, yellow poui: see the first element.The poui blooms are traditionally said to herald the start of the rainy season.
