Etymology: Origin uncertain; perhaps a blend of prat n.3 and fanny n.1, or perhaps compare Scots pran to crush, squeeze, compress (see Sc. National Dict. s.v. v., n.1). Compare later prannet n.
British slang (depreciative).
Originally: the female genitals. Later: an idiot.
