Origin: A borrowing from Latin. Etymons: Latin praeproperat-, praeproperare.
Etymology: < post-classical Latin praeproperat-, past participial stem (see -ate suffix3) of praeproperare to hasten unduly (in an undated glossary; 12th cent. in a British source), either < classical Latin prae- pre- prefix + properāre properate v., or < classical Latin praeproperus too hasty (see preproperous adj.). Compare earlier properate v., and slightly earlier preproperation n.
Obsolete. rare.
