Etymology: < classical Latin praedātīcius derived from plunder (2nd cent. a.d. in Aulus Gellius; < praedāt- , past participial stem of praedārī pread v. + -īcius : see -itious suffix1) + -ous suffix. Compare earlier predatory adj., and slightly later predacious adj.
Obsolete.
