precipen.

Forms: 1600s praecipie, 1600s precipee, 1600s–1800s precipe.
Origin: Apparently a borrowing from Latin. Etymons: Latin praecip-, praecipes.

Compare earlier precipice n.Originally in plural, which may have been intended to represent a supposed Latin plural *praecipēs of praeceps (on the model of e.g. prīncipēs , plural of prīnceps princeps n. and adj.), from which English precipe was formed as a singular (the usual plural of the Latin noun is praecipitia).
Obsolete.
An abrupt or steep descent; a precipice. Also figurative.
