Etymology: < post-classical Latin acclāmātor person who proclaims (16th cent.; 11th cent. in sense ‘plaintiff’) < classical Latin acclāmāt- , past participial stem of acclāmāre acclaim v. + -or -or suffix. Compare Middle French, French acclamateur (c1580).
