Origin: A borrowing from French. Etymon: French pressurage.
Etymology: Partly  <  French †pressurage grape juice extracted by means of a press (1611 in Cotgrave, but apparently not otherwise recorded in dictionaries of French; apparently a transferred use of pressurage   action of using a wine press (16th cent. in Middle French), alteration (with suffix substitution: compare -ure suffix1) of †pressoerage   action of using a wine press (1342;  <  pressoirer   to press (grapes) (see presserage n.) + -age  -age suffix)), and partly  <  French †pressurage fee paid to a feudal overlord for the use of the communal wine press (1380 in Middle French), alteration (with suffix substitution: compare -ure suffix1) of †pressorage  presserage n.
