Etymology: < pretergress v. or its etymon classical Latin praetergress-, past participial stem of praetergredī + -ion suffix1, probably after transgression n. N.E.D. (1908) indicates the stress as preterˈgression.
Obsolete. rare.
The action of ignoring or failing to follow a law, authority, etc.; the action of going beyond or overstepping bounds.
