Origin: A borrowing from Latin. Etymon: Latin prōpulsāre.
Etymology: < classical Latin prōpulsāre to drive away, repulse, to ward off, repel, frequentative formation < prōpellere propel v. Compare Middle French, French propulser (1522 in sense 1, 1863 in sense 2). Compare also Spanish propulsar (a1450; rare before 1933), Italian propulsare (a1429).
