Origin: Formed within English, by derivation. Etymons: pro- prefix2, -genetic comb. form.
Etymology: < pro- prefix2 + -genetic comb. form. In sense 2 after progenesis n.; compare French progénétique (A. Giard & J. Bonnier 1887, in Trav. de l'Inst. Zool. de Lille et du Laboratoire de Zool. Maritime de Wimereux 5 ii. 212).
